Jean Marias is the founder of Tunes Studio, as well as a gifted session drummer. Jean has worked with acclaimed blues musician, Riaan Nieuwenhuis, on his upcomming album called "Instigator", which is due for release later this year. Other project Jean have worked with in the past include : Fudge, Antipathy, Live Drum & Bass Trio, Draadloos, Emboldened and currently Terrarist and Jakobyn. Tunes is a rehearsal studio that acts in the interest of local music by providing affordable practice space, drum lessons and retailing in musical accessories including guitar strings, drumsticks and larger items that can be ordered from Paul Bothners. Tunes also provides a platform for young and up and coming bands to do live performances and good quality reference rehearsal recordings. Tunes is open for bookings seven days a week from 08h00 to 24h00. Bookings can be made by contacting Jean on 082 7704798 or by e-mail, tunesstudio@gmail.com Tunes - Growth in Music is a rehearsal room that provides a basic service to musicians that includes: a practise room with basic drum fascilities: Kickdrum, 2x Toms & Floor Tom, 3x Cymbal Stands + extension arm, Hi Hat stand, snare stand & a stool. There is a 200W 8 channel mixer amp with 2x 150W speakers as well as 2x vocal mics + stands & 2x cooling fans, guitar stands and a music stand. There are 2 amps available for hire, one 120W Laney bass amp and a 100W Marshall guitar amp, both are R15 per hour per amp. The room has been created to deliver good acoustics. There is also storage space available (R100 per month for 7 items and R20 extra per item for additional items), a tuck shop with standard beverages & a little space to enjoy a cooldrink. Toilet & basin fascilities are available. Goal: Tunes would like to see an upliftment in the standard of the Stellenbosch music scene, not to say that there is anything wrong with it, but an affordable rehearsal space will give musicians an opportunity to improved their music skills. Therefore creating better quality music for the public to enjoy. Directions: We have a map under our photo tab. When you get to Bridge street look out for Simunye fisheries (on your left), drive past it and past Thumb's Up and Tubs and Barrels. Be on the look out for 'Tunes Studio', next to Jo Marlin cafè on your right. (20m from the old premises) We are open for bookings seven days a week! Rates: 8AM-12PM - R70.00 per hour Reference rehearsal recordings costs : R15 for one song. R40 for 4 songs Contract : From the 1st of May 2012, bands or musicians can obtain membership from Tunes Studio in the form of a contract. This contract enables members to choose between three bundle booking options. Option 1) R400 per month for 8 hours Option 2) R360 per month for 6 hours Option 3) R260 per month for 4 hours This contract is viable for two months and needs to be renewed if you wish to continue your chosen option.
