Kilimanjaro band was born in 1991 and its name is a tribute to Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain on the African continent as a reference point and return to the origins of music. Kilimanjaro is eminently the roots band of the Greek scene, approaching and performing "classic" reggae music with devotion and respect. The band's repertoire includes unique songs in Greek and English verse, carrying messages of peace,justice,equal rights, love, and harmony, the essence of reggae music. It is characteristic that almost all of their songs have two versions, a Greek and and English one, making them accessible both to the Greek and to English speaking audience. They also present in a unique way covers of songs by artists such as Bob Marley, Third World, Peter Tosh, Alpha Blondy, Max Romeo, Black Uhuru and many more. Kilimanjaro have preformed numerous live shows in various venues of different styles, such as the Music Scene Ston Aera, Red Sea, Graffiti, Woodstock, Baroutadiko, Little Wing, 8 West, Mike's Irish Pub, Ardas Youth Festival as well as many charity concerts. “...Reggae music for us is a force of (r)(e)volution, a source of inspiration and a common language of expression.
