No, make that *great* top-liners.
There is no point sitting on your own perfecting your art if you are not writing actual songs with actual composers (notably top-liners).
But then the question becomes: where do I find great composers. Get out more and meet more people; contacts comes through people. I've had very limited success mining online contacts. Nothing beats getting face-to-face with singers, musicians, managers, etc.

I agree with that. The biggest growth I have seen comes from writing with people who can actually bring a song to life. The tools help us connect, but they do not replace the work that happens when the right people sit down and build something together. That part still matters.
