It might seem odd to be considering cancelling a trip if you haven't yet bought a ticket. But I think this is a subject worth talking abut right now. The TV version of Midem, MIPTV, has just announced that it is going ahead with its event in March but is introducing hygiene and medical standards just in case. I just wrote a longish piece about what this entails here: http://cannes-or-bust.com/2020/02/miptv-to-continue-despite-coronavirus But I'll sum it up here very briefly. If you are travelling from abroad you'll have to check if there are travel restrictions in countries you are transiting in. My one piece of advice is: get travel insurance in case you have to cancel at the last minute. Midem has seen a lot of events over the past 50 years include wars in the Middle East, SARS, terrorist threats and air/rail strikes. The show must go on, and most likely will. Thouhgts?

Hi all, Midem will indeed run as scheduled. However, if the situation is getting worse, you can find regular updates here: https://www.midem.com/en-gb/what-is-midem/practical-information/midem-notice.html Hope this helps! Julie

An important piece of info: the MIPIM property fair has had to be postponed until June 2-5 - the same dates as Midem. What will this mean? One major issue si that there will be a lot of competition for beds and flights! So book as early as you can if you intend to attend. http://cannes-or-bust.com/2020/03/mipim-postponed-until-june-2-5-2020/

As the situation has only gotten worse globally, Reed MIDEM have decided to cancel the event for this year. BUT: they will be running the conference program anyway. These are often very interesting discussions about the state of the business (and how to thrive in it). Here's my article on the subject. More details will follow: http://cannes-or-bust.com/2020/03/midem-2020-cancels-event-goes-online/ Meanwhile, online forums such as this one are now more important. So get down to business. I'm still looking for companies working in the MOR field for an innovative project. Get in touch if that is you.

Hi Michael - here is the email I received. I plan on attending in 2021 as I produce a few nights of Midem Showcases at Morrisons. Everybody stay safe & hope we can meet there in 2021. Dear Kathy, I am contacting you about Midem 2020. The situation related to the coronavirus is changing daily, as are government announcements and restrictions. These impact our industry and the way we live our lives. Let me reassure you that the Midem team is working to support you and your industry counterparts during this challenging time, when global music unity is important now more than ever. Due to the coronavirus and its impact around the world, I must inform you that we are cancelling Midem 2020 in Cannes, which was due to take place June 2-5. Instead, we are reloading with a new online service, called the Midem Digital Edition. Starting June 2-5, 2020 – the dates we should have been together in Cannes – we want to bring Midem to you. Wherever you are in the world, you can access livestreamed keynote sessions, talks and presentations, as well as opportunities for online conversations and speed meetings with other participants. We will be in touch with you shortly to explain how everything works. Stay tuned for details! We understand that many of you, like us, are disappointed that we will not be together this June at Midem in Cannes. No doubt you will have questions about credits or refunds, and we will be contacting you in the next two weeks to discuss these and other questions you may have. We thank you in advance for your patience. Last but not least, we look forward to bringing everyone back together again in Cannes June 1-4, 2021 to work on a well-deserved return to a fast-growing industry and to celebrate Midem‘s 55th anniversary. Until then, on behalf of all of us on the Midem team, I hope you stay strong, stay connected and above all …stay safe.”
