Personal profile

Growing up in the midlands (UK) and drawing inspiration from my mother and her side of the family. I began playing piano at the age of 8 and then adding guitar lessons to the mix when aged 10, which was inspired after the 'Johnny B Good' scene with Michael J Fox in Back to the Future. Taking influence from Joe Satriani, Gary Moore and other solo rock guitarists. The dream was to become an guitar instrumentalist of this style and soon after recorded my first album 'weird doings' at aged 15. During the recording of this first album, I picked up an acoustic guitar and added a vocal melody which I had stuck in my head. My good friend and mentor Ed Summers suggested there may be a voice in there and spent the next 5 years having vocal lessons, writing sessions and helped to nurture my sound as an artist. Being inspired by Nirvana, Goo Goo Dolls, Stereophonics, Feeder and U2 I started experimenting with new styles, techniques and the rhythmical side of playing. Through working with three bands over 13 years I gained stage experience and honed my skills as a performer. In between these bands I always found my back to the solo acoustic music scene. I wanted to take my music to the next level and so around 2008, moved to London and gigged heavily at open mic nights around the London acoustic circuit performing tracks my solo album 'Declassified.' I took the opportunity to once again expand my musical horizon and joined the band 'Many Eyes.' Successfully gigging, we recorded an album which was never completed. The band dissolved unexpectedly and I then decided and felt I needed a break from performing live and focused my attention on teaching guitar and piano as well as writing music for tv adverts/programmes with good friend Marc Lane for Sony and Boosey & Hawkes. This lead to us having 1.7million hits on youtube for a track we recorded for WWE 'Get in the Game,' as well as the theme tune for BBC's Caught Red Handed. After this recharge of creative energy I threw myself back into writing and came up with the track 'City Falls' which was inspired by Batman 'Dark Night Rises.' After writing commercially with Marc and mixing it with my own creative experiences I once again found my hunger to create something that was just ME! With edgy rock vocals, haunting melodies percussive acoustic elements and hypnotic guitar effects, Scott is back on the scene. Have recently finished and released album 'Neon'. Produced and engineered by good friend and business partner Gareth Kay. The single released from this album 'Lucky 7' was inspired after living around a world of gambling and working full-time as a croupier, seeing the tragedy of individuals and how this addiction can take hold. www.scottdeanmusic.com
