Written by me because my lead guitarist, Jay, (we were a Trio) had a voice box that intrigued me, and I asked if he could do background voices in harmony with an alien sound to them. I asked him to do "Are You Human ? Are You Man ? ", with specific harmony notes on the guitar, and, combined with distortion and his Wah Wah pedal, it sounded eerie enough to get me pumped up to write a song about Alien Abduction, which is this song. This recording was of an on-stage, live performance that I think was the first time we did it; I believe it was in a bar in the small Niagara town of Ridgeway, in, probably, the last week of February, 1978. And, if you do listen, you'll note that I forgot the first couple of words in the second verse. Considering this was done with a single microphone set up somewhere at the front of the stage, with no "sound-man", it's not half bad. I recorded such things back then to listen to later, to determine what could be improved. Sure glad I got this one, otherwise it would have been lost forever. (First thing I think I did was tell our drummer, Pat, not to add a vocal harmony "doo doo" third to the two part guitar riff). For interest's sake (or not), I sang lead, played 2nd guitar, keyboard (both guitar - Left hand and keyboard - Right hand, in the choruses) and played bass pedals (feet, duh !)

Medically disabled Canadian Songwriter. I recorded all my demos in my basement (NO A.I.) between 1996 and 2016. Stopped because nerve damage from a medically caused accident greatly hampered my ability to play any more. Before that, I was basically confined to my home anyways, because of SCH (Severe Chemical Hypersensitivities) an after effect of a medication called Prednisone, for which I and many others were unknowingly being used as "guinea pigs" to test its effectiveness and (by observing us) its side effects. On the songs, I spent an average of 28 hours to get results I was proud of; overdubbing vocals and instruments, by means of bouncing, on (for the most part) a four track TEAC A-3440. The last 3 years I had a Fostex VF08. This was all old equipment donated by musicians I had worked with previous to having been shut down by the SCH. From 1966 till 2016 I wrote 2013 songs (catalogued by my wife, Wendy R.I.P.). I ain't quitting on my music till life quits on me !
