I entered the light of this world in Frankfurt on January 6, 1971. As would soon become clear that this light would be the only thing my eyes would ever let me see of this world. I grew up in the place I now again call my home: Radolfzell, a town at the Lake Constance. My school years were spent at two different boarding schools. First, at the school for the blind and visually impaired in Heiligenbronn, and later at the “Nikolauspflege” in Stuttgart. Like every well-behaved child, I learned how to play the recorder in school and even started to take piano lessons. The rigid lessons soon began to grind my nerves, and so I became an autodidact. I taught myself how to play the piano, had a friend show me the chords on a guitar, experimented with the harmonica, and had a try at playing the A few years ago, I began composing my own songs in the German language. When performing, I accompany myself with the piano or the guitar. The harmonica is always on board. My first CD titled “Sehnsucht”, the German word for “longing”, was recorded in my own home, at my friends’ places, as well as in a recording studio. It ended up being a colorful mix. When I am not at the office where I work to earn my daily living, I am consumed by music. I also enjoy listening to audio plays. Since I love to eat, I had to learn how to cook. I have gotten pretty good at it, at least if you ask me. Someone has yet to complain about my cooking. I would describe my own compositions as a sophisticated version of something known as “Schlagermusik”. A German music genre that lies somewhere between folk and pop music. But even this description doesn’t do justice to describing my music. I believe my music is something everyone has to listen to and sort in for themselves. I do what I enjoy, and sometimes that means I end up singing in dialect.
