Hi there! Stef is a reliable and experienced independent music producer, audio engineer (SAE) and label owner. He opened his first own recording studio in 1997 and since then has been working as a freelance engineer in various locations, also as a live engineer in exquisite clubs and venues. He had classical piano lessons with the American pianist Victor Ryder for ten years, and keyboard instruments such as synthesizers and samplers are a passion of his. As a cosmopolitan and multi-interested, also political person, Stef has helped to build up the internationally acclaimed project GRANDHOTEL COSMOPOLIS over many years. He also loves the mountains and nature. But he can't stand being without electricity for too long. PRODUCE / STUDIO: Countless studio hours behind the desk. He knows a lot about the needs of musicians. Logic Pro expert for over 20 years. Plays keys & bass. Owns a set of very flexible mobile studio equipment complete with microphony and perfect monitoring for those who play. And he understands timing.

Selma Records is a music production company and music label in Augsburg, Germany. The company was founded in 2021 to offer budget-friendly full service to musicians from different genres in these difficult times. It is operated by Stef Maldener, a freelance musician, producer and audio engineer. The field of activity covers the complete production chain from high-quality recording to mixing (we like to have mastering done externally, but we can do it as well) to the creation of premaster and ready-to-press CD image or vinyl-ready. Upload and access to all relevant streaming platforms. For us, production means: communication & clarity, working with instrumentation, voicing, tempo, realistic objectives, consensual aesthetic decisions, making sound ideas possible, opening imaginary spaces, getting budgets right. A lot! And above all, it should be fun as well as an enriching experience for everyone. Recording up to 24 channels in different rooms on location possible in the D/A/CH/FR/IT/CZ area, as long as it is accessible by car. Mixing in our mixing suite in Augsburg.
