This is a ballad about escaping an abusive relationship. It speaks of the hardship a woman goes through in leaving someone she loves so very much even if that person has been somewhat abusive, mentally or physically. It's her tug of war to drag herself away. It is also about infidelity, dragging yourself away from a relationship when you find out that your partner has been unfaithful.
